TASCAM has announced the CA-XLR2d-N microphone adapter, which was developed in conjunction with Nikon. This compact adapter brings XLR input expansion and professional-grade audio capture to the new Nikon ZR.
The CA-XLR2d-N delivers external audio directly to the camera, eliminating the need for complex post-production syncing tasks. TASCAM’s HDDA microphone preamps are claimed to allow users to capture clean, noise-free recordings with a wide dynamic range in a variety of filming scenarios.

Featuring dual XLR/TRS combo jacks and a dedicated 3.5mm stereo mini jack, the CA-XLR2d-N can accept inputs from shotgun and condenser microphones to lavalieres and line-level sources and pass them on directly to Nikon cameras.

TASCAM’s high-performance AD converters transmit digital audio via a digital accessory shoe, drawing power directly from the camera. Other features include headphone monitoring, a built-in microphone shock-mount, and an analog output.

Other processing functions include Auto-Level, Low-Cut Filter, and a Limiter. TASCAM worked closely with Nikon to ensure the new adapter’s seamless integration.
TASCAM also released the new CA-AK1-N conversion adapter. The CA-AK1-N is an accessory hot shoe adapter designed to fit on any of the CA-XLR2d models, making them compatible with Nikon cameras.
The CA-AK1 is a conversion adapter that allows one CA-XLR2d to connect to cameras from various manufacturers. By replacing your existing CA-XLR2d adapter, you can have more options for cameras to connect.
TASCAM has an extensive list of cameras and their compatibility, so you know what functions work with a particular camera.

The CA-XLR2d-N retails for $599 USD. The CA-AK1 adapters are $99 USD.
