Metamorphosis has unveiled pre-order prices for the three different versions of its Exocage for the popular Sony FX3 and FX30. Metamorphosis will announce the pre-order date soon.
The Metamorphosis Exocage for Sony FX3/FX30 is based on their pre-existing solutions for some of the Panasonic LUMIX cameras, but they have been tailored to the FX3 and FX30.
Cage and powering solutions like these can add much-needed functionality to mirrorless hybrids, but they do make them significantly larger and heavier.
It is made of a 3D-printed, carbon-fiber–reinforced engineering-grade compound. The Exocage integrates both Mechanical features, NATO rails, cheese plates, rod mounts, etc., and Electronic modules via the Exocore for power distribution and signal conversion.
The design is modular, so users can add or remove components (cheese plates, Exogrip, XLR adapter, Exocore) depending on the shooting setup. It’s built to keep cable routing clean, improve ergonomics, and allow professional accessories to be mounted easily.
Exocore is the electronics module of the Exocage system. It is essentially a power and signal hub that houses: V-Mount plate from ZGCINE (for powering the camera and accessories) D-Tap splitter from ZGCINE (4x D-Tap outputs) HDMI-to-SDI converter (Blackmagic Micro Converter) Structurally, it’s a rear-mounted module that locks onto the Exocage, but it can also be detached and used as a standalone unit. With its integrated 15mm rod clamp, it can slide onto any standard rig, making it both a modular power system and a signal management unit. Used standalone, the Exocore becomes a universal power and signal hub for any camera.

The Exocage CONNECT is the Same as the Complete, but without the converter. This is a good solution if you already own a converter.

The Exocage PURE comes without the converter and pre-installed cables. This is a good option if you don’t require an SDI output.
