Aputure has posted up a very informative talk and demonstration from cinematographer Matt Ryan at APEX 2025, which goes into a lot of detail about how to do affordable and realistic virtual production.
Using 2D, pre-rendered environments and Aputure’s new product line optimized for image-based lighting, Matt shoots a short narrative scene using a single set and vehicle to illustrate a car process driving through the jungle, all within one hour, showing that speed and quality aren’t compromised because of budget.
