The Gearseat is being touted as a smart, secure solution for mounting your camera rig inside any car with ISOFIX. It was built for camera operators, by camera operators.
The Gearseat lets you mount your fully rigged camera directly into the back seat, so you don’t need to dismantle it, put it in a case, or stack it in the boot (trunk for you americans). The idea is you just lock it in, drive, and shoot.
The Gearseat looks like a decent solution for those shooters who are doing documentaries, news, wildlife, etc, when they are hopping between locations and don’t want to break a camera down.
For years, what I have actually been doing is to place a camera on a cine saddle and then wrap the seatbelt around the camera and lock it in. This way, nothing moves, and it stays secure. The Gearseat looks to be a different solution for the same problem.
At the moment, the Gearseat is still in the prototype phase. The company is testing, refining, and rethinking every detail, from the ISOFIX connection to the camera mount, to ensure a solid, safe, and user-friendly solution for filmmakers on the move.
Gearseat is working closely with professionals in the field to make sure the product fits real-world demands. This means:
- Fast and secure camera placement
- Compatible with ISOFIX systems
- Designed for Sony VCT-14, Arri Dovetail, and other baseplates
- Built like a tank
