IDX has announced the launch of GUARDIAN, a 2000Wh portable power station that incorporates a semi-solid lithium-ion battery. The product will be available in July 2025.
GUARDIAN is the first model in a new category of professional-grade portable power solutions called PowerBase. This product is claimed to mark a significant evolution in IDX’s offerings, aiming to redefine what a portable power source can be by integrating next-generation technology that brings greater value to users.

By integrating a semi-solid-state battery with GaN (gallium nitride) semiconductors, GUARDIAN delivers the following advantages:
① Compact, Lightweight, and High-Capacity
Compared to other models with the same capacity, GUARDIAN achieves approximately 50% reduction in both weight and size.
② Uncompromised Safety
The electrolyte used inside the battery is non-flammable and flame-resistant. This ensures that even in cases of external impact, overcharging, or internal short-circuiting, no heat is generated and the unit does not catch fire. GUARDIAN has passed the “nail penetration test” to prove this safety.
③ Extended Lifespan
Reduced internal heat generation slows battery degradation over time, resulting in significantly longer battery life compared to conventional products.
④ Silent Operation
Operating noise is reduced by approximately 60% compared to other models with similar capacity. Less heat generation inside the unit means the fan runs less frequently, allowing for quieter operation.
⑤ Fast Charging
Achieves rapid charging, reaching 60–80% of full capacity in approximately one hour.
Semi-solid-state battery
A semi-solid-state battery is one in which all or part of the electrolyte inside is solid. The semi-solid-state battery used by IDX is called a “liquid-impregnated (impregnated) semi-solid-state battery,” which uses a composite electrolyte consisting of a solid electrolyte impregnated with a small amount of liquid electrolyte. This ensures both a high level of safety and ion conductivity. The impedance inside the semi-solid-state battery is 1/10 of that of conventional batteries, so that ions inside can come and go in a space with few barriers (impedance), eliminating the need for extra energy, resulting in a significant reduction in the amount of heat generated.
Furthermore, the inverter used inside the product is a GaN semiconductor. Compared to silicon semiconductors, they are more efficient and faster, and their increased power conversion efficiency leads to smaller and lighter products.
The GUARDIAN has a life of over 1000 cycles. The combination of semi-solid-state batteries✕GaN semiconductors results in less heat and slower cell degradation speed than conventional products, resulting in a longer service life.
The PowerBase has roughly 60% less operating noise than models of similar capacity and nearly 0dB noise when operating within 1000W. The reduced heat generation reduces fan operation, resulting in quieter operation.

In Japan, the DX GUARDIAN 2000Wh Semi-Solid Battery Power Station will retail for ¥298,000 (excluding tax). It will be available in July.
