Blackmagic Design has unveiled its new Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2. This updated model has similar features, but according to the company, it is easier to manufacture, so they can price it at a lower cost. It also includes modern USB-C and HDMI ports.

The Blackmagic Design Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2 can control up to eight Ultimatte units via 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet. Its large display area, adjustable stand, and separate brightness controls for the display as well as the button layout make for an ergonomic, user-friendly experience. The G2 version replaces the USB interfaces with USB-C ports for peripheral devices, upgrades the Ethernet connectivity, adds an HDMI output with Full HD resolution support, and incliudes the Blackmagic Operating System. Furthermore, “Monitor Out Views” can be accessed from every menu for quick and easy operation of essential functions. The new controller can exist in the same Ultimatte ecosystem as its predecessor and works in tandem with current Ultimatte 12 processor models.
The Blackmagic Design Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2 is now available for $2,325 USD, although B&H has it listed for $2,579 USD.
