The ZEISS Panoptes 65 is a new lens set inspired by ZEISS’ modern full-frame lenses and will cover the larger sensor area of the Alexa 265, Alexa 65, Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65, etc.
There will be 10 focal lengths: 25, 35, 40, 45, 55, 70, 90, 110, 135, and 180, all T2.2.
The lenses are scheduled to start shipping in the northern hemisphere summer this year. There are no details of pricing.
The ZEISS Panoptes 65 will join the company’s recently announced Aatma cine primes. The Aatma Prime T1.5 Cine Lenses. The new Aatma Prime series consists of nine focal lengths, and they are said to draw inspiration from the classic Planar, Distagon, and Sonnar photo lenses.
The lenses cover large-format sensors, and they feature Zeiss eXtended Data compatibility.
ZEISS states that they balance charcter rich rendering with technical precision. Aatma is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “innermost essence,” “self,” or “soul”.
