MagStand

MagStand is being touted as a professional light stand built for photographers, videographers, and creators who want stability, fast setup, and travel-ready portability. It looks like an interesting concept, but without actually seeing one, I have no idea how it actually performs in the real world.

MagStand was designed from the ground up to solve real-world lighting problems. It features a super-wide low-profile base, dual contact rubberized feet, and a patent-pending leg system that deploys in one smooth motion.

Each leg contacts the ground at two points with durable, rubberized feet.

Even in its narrowest footprint configuration, the MagStand stays planted. According to the company, the extra ground contact delivers extra stability.

The MagStand’s patent-pending leg design is claimed to deploy and lock in one smooth motion.

Users can adjust height with the squeeze button that auto-locks sections.

The auto-locking action acts like a built-in safety catch, eliminating the need for frustrating air cushions and making it possible to do one-handed height adjustments.

You can also remove the center column to transform the stand into a lightweight handheld monopole.

The monopole’s soft matte finish is said to provide a non-slip grip for anyone holding it.

Multiple stands can be attached together magnetically for easier carrying between locations.

Magnets align it, the latch locks it, and one press releases it.

Everything can be broken down to fit inside standard checked luggage for travel.

MagStand’s built-in mounting hook adds a mounting location for adding weight in the right place.

The MagStand’s patent-pending integrated leg channels introduce strong anchor points on each leg to securely attach accessories like the MagStand Leg Base Connector.

The MagStand is available in 9 ft / 2.74m and 11 ft / 3.35m modular configurations.

The payload capacity of the MagStand 9 and 11 Pro is 6.3kg / 5.1 lbs. This is not a ton of weight, so you are only going to be able to use select fixtures with it. The MagStand 9 Pro weighs 2.3kg / 5,1 lbs, and the 11 Pro weighs 2.8kg / 6.3 lbs.
