NATIVE– Dom West ACS

NATIVE is an immersive short film exploring one of Australia’s most complex and controversial ecological relationships: humans and dingoes. Set deep within a vast dune landscape, the film follows photographer Charles Davis as he tracks an elusive pack, blending observational storytelling with cinematic restraint.

Captured with a skeleton crew camping out for a week in the dunes, the project demanded long hikes through shifting sand, searing heat, relentless wind, and razor–thin light windows, shaping every frame through a combination of patience and instinct. Dingoes sit at the center of a complex conservation debate in Australia.

NATIVE offers a quiet, unfiltered look into their world, encouraging a deeper connection to a species often misunderstood or defined only by headlines.

NATIVE was shot on the RED V-RAPTOR VV for scale and detail across the dunes, with the KOMODO used for lightweight, fast-moving work in the field.
