Director Clint Bentley and Cinematographer Adolpho Veloso discuss how they masterfully used natural light and the landscape of the Pacific Northwest to create the visual beauty that is Train Dreams.
Train Dreams has a very unique aesthetic. It was shot on the ARRI Alexa 35, and it was captured and displayed in 4.6K Open Gate 3:2 aspect ratio. Lens-wise, Adolpho Veloso opted to use a combination of Zeiss Super Speeds, Kowa Cine Prominars, and the Angénieux Optimo 12x zoom.
