Canon has released new firmware updates for the EOS C400, C70, C80, and R5C cameras. These latest firmware updates will enable full frame 3:2 open gate recording (EOS C400), view assist in media mode, quality improvement of focus peaking, improved assign buttons, improved Joy-Stick operability (EOS C80 and EOS C400), among other features.
It doesn’t come as any big shock that Canon has added 3:2 open gate recording on the EOS C400. It would be strange to have a lower cost model feature functionality that wasn’t available in their flagship digital cinema camera. Owners of the C80 may feel a little disappointed that Canon won’t be adding open gate recording to that camera.
