ARRI has posted an interesting update on social media, reassuring customers and the industry that it remains fully committed to its lighting business and the high-end cinema and live entertainment markets.
They start by saying, ‘For more than 100 years, ARRI has created tools to empower filmmakers. As we come to the close of a difficult year for many businesses and creatives in the film and entertainment industries, ARRI would like to provide an outlook for the coming year and a strong commitment to the future of our brand.’
In this changing industry, you need to adapt or die. ARRI, like a lot of legacy companies, needs to come up with new products and solutions as well as try to broaden its customer base.
Lighting

ARRI recently closed down a few of its factories in Germany, and there was a lot of speculation that its lighting division was going to be completely sold off and ARRI wasn’t going to be making lights anymore. According to the company, lighting remains a central pillar of its business, and it is dedicated to continuing this legacy. ARRI states that they have a full roadmap of lighting products that they will be launching in 2026 and beyond, featuring new technologies for motion picture, live entertainment, as well as for content creators. This last line is an interesting one, and if one of their plans is to target content creators, it will be interesting to see how they plan on competing with other companies, especially when it comes to price.
ARRI also states that they are committed to maintaining the standards you expect from ARRI Lighting while meeting the needs of modern productions.

Despite closing lighting factories in Germany, ARRI says that new specialists have joined the company to help develop new lighting technologies. If you read between the lines, it looks as if the products will be designed in Germany, but they could be manufactured elsewhere.
Cameras

Cameras will still be the core of ARRI’s business, and its family of ALEXA cameras and associated ecosystem of accessories, etc., will continue to grow in the coming years to meet the changing needs of the industry. What exactly this means will again be interesting to see. I don’t personally see ARRI bringing out a sub $10,000 USD camera, but they could certainly benefit by making a more affordable solution than they currently offer.
Service

They then go on to say that ‘In 2026 and beyond, we will continue to deliver cutting-edge technology and premium services without restrictions. We look forward to the year ahead and to more exciting developments to come!’
