Flanders Scientific has announced its new XMP C Series, which consists of the 26.5″ XMP270C, 31.5″ XMP310C, and 55″ XMP550C. These feature the same QD-OLED panels used in the XMP series, in a more compact, lighter, and more cost-effective form factor built for OB trucks and broadcast control rooms.

To achieve this streamlined design, the XMP C Series incorporates four key changes:

  • A simplified rear-mounted 5-way controller replaces the traditional front-facing keypad
  • Processed monitor outputs have been removed, but clean loop-throughs remain
  • Integrated speakers have been removed, but the audio output jack is still provided
  • A new rectangular chassis optimized for control-room installations and tight multi-monitor layouts

These refinements result in notable reductions in size, weight, and cost. Overall height decreases by 1.375″ to 2″ (3.5-5.2 cm), and weight decreases by 1.3 to 4 lbs (0.6-1.8 kg) depending on the model.

While the Standard XMP Series remains Flanders Scientific’s top recommendation for on-set production and many post-production workflows, the XMP C Series offers an attractive alternative for environments where menu access is infrequent or external/remote control is the norm.
