KIPON and BUFF Optics have collaborated to launch rehoused Mamiya 645 cine lenses that use the latest Mark II 0.8x optic focal reducer.
The lenses were specially designed for using 645 format lenses on 65mm cameras, producing an uncropped image, maximizing the performance of Mamiya 645 lenses.
There are 9 different focal lengths to choose from. The focal lengths are:
- 28mm T2.9
- 36mm T2.4
- 45mm T2.4
- 56mm T2.4
- 65mm T1.7
- 88mm T2.4
- 120mm T2.4
- 150mm T2.4
- 150mm T2.8
- 200mm T2.8
The 150mm T2.8 and 200mm T2.8 don’t utilize the 0.8x optic focal reducer.
Pricing & Availability
The lenses would be a good fit on the BMCC 17K and Fujifilm ETERNA. Pre-orders are now open, and the delivery time is expected to be 4 months.
The lenses retail between $4,500 – $4,800 USD each. From November 18th to November 30th, the lenses can be preordered (Minimum five focus lenses), and they will come with one free KIPON 1.3x PL-LPL 65mm or 1.3x PL-G ETERNA expander.
G.L. Optics also makes a Mk V – Mamiya 645N – 8 Lens Set (speed booster infused) that costs $57,100 USD. Please note that this doesn’t use the Kipon Mark II 0.8x optic focal reducer, as Kipon doesn’t sell them to lens rehousing companies.
