The Module 8 MOOD Hypnotic is claimed to be the first tuner compatible with Sony E mount cameras and lenses. According to Module 8, MOOD isn’t a filter; it’s the key to unlocking the emotion and soul trapped inside pristine digital cameras and lenses (that’s a lot of marketing speak!).
This is an affordable way to get a different look across multiple lenses. Instead of buying one specialized lens to create the same effect, you can use the Tuner with all of your E-mount lenses.
Unlike other Module 8 products, this is a fixed Tuner and is not variable like the EF and PL Tuners.
The company goes on to say that, unlike boring “flat diffusion”, MOOD creates an altered state by modifying the spatial frequency response of overly sharp lenses, immersing viewers in a visceral, story-driven visual experience. Our first single MOOD Hypnotic delivers a dramatic in-camera look: a trippy radial bokeh, melting edge blur, and a warped geometry that conveys a sense of movement while the built-in 1.3x crop subtly draws the audience closer.
Module 8 engineered the first MOOD Hypnotic to be not subtle. They wanted to make sure they could be used with even cheaper kit zooms. The Module 8 MOOD Hypnotic Sony E to Sony E Mount Tuner still allows you to use full AF capabilities, etc.
This Tuner looks to provide a similar sort of effect to something like a Lens Baby. It looks like an interesting product for creating unique shots.

The Module 8 MOOD Hypnotic Sony E to Sony E Mount Tuner will be available to order from the 15th of November for $399 USD. Module 8 currently has early bird pricing, where you can get the Tuner for $299 USD.
It is expected to start shipping in January 2026.
