Hollyland has announced Vcore, a wireless video transmission system that allows you to use your smartphone as a camera monitor. It can also record and be used as a wireless video transmitter.

Vcore was designed for convenience and portability, and it is primarily targeted at content creators and those using small-sized cameras.

Vcore integrates monitoring, wireless transmission, and software into a smartphone-powered ecosystem.

Monitoring

Featuring an all-in-one design, the Vcore simplifies monitoring. You connect the camera via HDMI and the smartphone via USB-C.

Vcore is compatible with both Android and iOS systems, and it integrates with Pyro series receivers to offer multi-device monitoring options. The system supports a 1-transmitter-to-4-receiver configuration, transmits signals over the 5 GHz frequency, and is claimed to have an operating range of up to 350 feet / 100 meters and a low latency of approximately 65 ms.

Recording

Not only can Vcore be used for monitoring, but it can also record in H.264 at 1080p at up to 60 fps to an SD card. You can also record 4K at up to 30 fps, and 1080p up to 60 fps in Apple ProRes 422, Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 LT, or Apple ProRes 422 Proxy.

Vcore automatically detects the camera’s frame rate and timecode, enabling proxy file linking in editing software such as Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. With proxy files recorded in MP4 format and embedded timecode saved to the internal SD card, users benefit from reliable backup options.

On top of that, the linked mobile device can automatically initiate synchronous recording in MP4 on the HollyView app. This gives users the ability to share clips on social media or turn around material quickly.

The Vcore has a full sized HDMI 1.4 input, a USB-C output, an SD card slot, and a USB-C power input.

Size & Weight

The Vcore weighs 220g, and it has physical dimensions of
110 x 70 x 27.2mm / 4.33 x 2.76 x 1.07″.

The VCore features a built-in 5150 mAh battery, and it can also charge your iPhone or iPad while serving as your on-camera monitor. The battery will power the device for up to 6 hours.

Additionally, there is a USB-C power input if you need to power it from a power bank or from a compatible camera battery

Installation

You can attach a smartphone with either a holder or you can use the MagSafe mount.

What cameras and phones will it work with?

Vcore currently works with Sony, Canon, and Nikon cameras. It also works with Apple, Huawei, Honor, Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Samsung, Meizu, and Google phones.

Image Transfer

For still image transfer, Vcore connects to the camera via USB, and it is able to capture uncompressed image files such as RAW or JPEG, which are then wirelessly transmitted in real time to mobile devices through the HollyView app and to macOS via the Capture One plugin.

Real-time naming & tagging

The HollyView app allows for real-time naming and tagging of clips while recording. Mobile and transmitter footage share the same default file name prefix, which is customizable to match source camera files. With Vcore supporting recording up to 1080p at 60 fps, users can import footage into mobile editing software for easy organization. You can also review footage with split-screen comparisons, mark favorites instantly, and let the system auto-sort clips into categorized folders.

Remote camera control, Live streaming, & real-time chroma keying

The Accsoon SeeMo Pro ($199 USD) enables the use of your iPhone or iPad screen as an external camera monitor for cameras with HDMI or SDI output. You can record HD footage directly from your camera through the SeeMo Pro onto your phone or tablet, or live stream what your camera sees onto your favorite social media platform.

The Accsoon SeeMo Pro has the added benefit of both SDI and HDMI inputs, but it can’t internally record, and it can’t directly be used as a wireless video transmitter, as you need to attach it to an Accsoon CineView wireless transmitter to send video to additional monitors and devices.
