Insta360 has announced GO Ultra, a tiny, hands-free 53g / 1.86 oz camera that allows you to shoot immersive POVs in 4K60fps. It also features a 1/1.28″ sensor, increased battery life, and PureVideo Mode’s enhanced low-light capture.
The concept behind the GO Ultra was to take the camera advancements made with the Ace and X series cameras and put them into a compact, pocket camera.
The GO Ultra is being touted as a good solution for travel, vlogging videos, BTS, etc.

The 1/1.28″ sensor (that is 221% larger than its predecessor), and new 5nm AI chip are claimed to deliver imaging that was previously impossible to obtain in the GO series. Additionally, PureVideo uses AI algorithms to reduce visual noise and enhance brightness in low light.
At just 53g and the size of a smartwatch, the built-in magnetic base lets you mount the GO Ultra Standalone Camera anywhere. There is an upgraded Magnet Pendant and a vast array of new accessories, from the peel-and-use Sticky Tabs to the wholly original Toddler Titan Hat Clip.
The upgraded Insta360 app features AI tools to turn your footage into shareable content. Transitions, effects, music, and more can be added with just a few taps. Cyclists can add their data, GPS, heart rate, and speed from Strava or a third-party device that syncs in real-time to their footage. There is also a new AI Family Moments feature.
Hands-Free
Users can attach the Standalone Camera to the Magnet Pendant or the Magnetic Easy Clip to record their POV hands-free.
The Standalone Camera’s built-in magnetic base can be used on any metallic surface and combined with the Pivot Mount, Flexi Strap Mount, and more.
GO Ultra uses Bluetooth to broadcast in real time from the Standalone Camera to the Action Pod.
Small & Compact
GO Ultra is so compact, it can be put in a pocket, kept in a handbag, etc. As I previously mentioned, the camera weighs just 53g / 1.86 oz and is as small as an Oreo cookie.
Despite its small size, GO Ultra was designed to be used anywhere. It can handle anything, and it can go down to 33ft (10m) underwater, thanks to its IPX8 waterproofing.
1/1.28″ sensor & Lens
GO Ultra’s 1/1.28″ sensor increases the amount of light captured by the lens, and the new ambient light sensor is claimed to reduce flickering and calibrate colors in real-time. The 5nm AI chip is also said to reduce visual noise while still improving processing time for 4K60fps shooting.
The fixed lens has a 14.27mm (35mm equivalent focal length) and an F2.85 aperture. The ISO range is 100–6400.
What can it capture?
It can capture up to 4K60fps and 1080p@240fps in MP4 H.264/H.265 at a maximum bitrate of up to 180Mbps. Active HDR can be turned on or off up to 4K30fps.

Battery Life
The Standalone Camera has a run time of 70 minutes on a single charge, and 200 minutes when combined with the Action Pod. When the battery does run out, the fast charging system can get GO Ultra back to 80% in around 12 minutes.
No more fixed storage
Unlike GO 3S, which has fixed internal storage, GO Ultra uses removable microSD cards. It can take cards of up to 2TB in capacity.
