Miller & Schneider announce A-Cup eyecup for Sony mirrorless cameras

Following on from their C-Cup (Canon fit) and G-Cup (Panasonic fit) models, Miller & Schneider have announced a version of their popular eyecup for Sony a7-series cameras.

All models are designed to simply attach to your camera and provide a useful point of contact when using the EVF rather than a monitor, and Miller & Schneider have designed the Sony variant to click securely in place on the camera body. It certainly looks like a big improvement on the rather weedy stock Sony eyecup, and simply adds a nice big cushion to the EVF rather than adding any new optical elements.

“The A-Cup improves handheld shooting most of all, so the combination of our secure, comfortable eyecup and Sony’s 5-axis IBIS stabilization is really a big deal,” the company says in its press release. “I think video shooters in particular are going to feel great about simply picking this camera up and shooting handheld without additional rigging. That has always been our goal with these products. We want to enable users to keep their rigs light and lean.”

Amen to that. Unless rigs are your thing, in which case, no problem, let’s not turn this into a Thing.

Also announced is retail distribution in Europe via Lovinpix (Paris) and Colorfoto (Lisbon), so Yurpeans can order from within the EU without the added hassle of import duties and VAT from the US-based Miller & Schneider webstore.

The A-Cup is priced at $34.95 and pre-orders are being taken now for delivery early in the new year. Looks like a no-brainer for anyone wanting to shoot their a7 handheld with the minimum of fuss.
