Newsshooter at NAB 2014: TLS Optics show prototype 24-70 cine lens conversion from Dan Chung on Vimeo.

At NAB we talked to True Lens Service from the UK, who were showing prototype metalwork for their latest lens conversion. The new mid-range zoom starts life as a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 stills lens. The optics are then completely rehoused, the focus direction changed with super smooth focus, zoom and iris added. The lens mount is converted to PL and an optional convertor is offered to mount it onto EOS cameras.

Price is expected to be around $12,000 US, so this is not an inexpensive option, but if you are in the market for a fully cinemised mid-range zoom then this is actually one of the cheaper options. The construction of their current Morpheus 80-200mm Nikon lens conversion is truly excellent (see video below), so this new 24-70 should be one to watch if you have the money.

We are continuing to finish the last few videos from NAB. I know it’s been weeks but we all have day jobs but please bear with us.
