Hello everybody, I'm based in Vancouver, BC and I have over 38 years in TV news. I am now Director of my own Agency. If you have any questions and think I can help, give me a shout. Keep those cameras safely rolling and everyone keep healthy during this rather unusual and turbulent time. - Murman

Have been a great fan of Newshooter for many years - it’s a great resource, and I’m sure this forum will add to it. Well done Matt, Erik and the team.

I’m run a small company in Canberra, Australia, making content for corporate, art/architecture/fashion, NGOs/charities, government, my daughter’s school assignments and have a cobbled together feature that’s proving hard to finish.

Some selected work is on our website www.srh.com.au

Currently not doing a lot of shooting on an FX9, FS7 and A7iii...

Hi, I’m Ken Martini from Northern California. I have been in the film industry for 25 years. I started out as a commercial photographer and did products, architecture, portraits, and forensics.

For the last 15 years I have been involved in  video, first as a gaffer, then incorporated sound and shooting.

While doing sound for a Shark Tank episode with 4 people on lavs, I lost a connection in my sound bag. It was a horrible experience to hold up the entire crew while I frantically tore through my bag to find the problem. Having a background in design I thought of how to make a better sound kit and that has been brewing in me for several years.

I finally decided to build my ideas on sound and other equipment and so I created “Filmdevices.com”. There are several products already made and the sound support kit I envisioned is now in the final stages and patents are being applied. The sound kit is sure to be a game changer. Photos and specs will soon be available.

I love the creativity in this industry in content and equipment. To be able to actually make the gear is a dream come true.

Looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Hello Everyone!

First of all I would like to thank Newsshooter for creating this Forum. It’s nice to see a filmmakers platform that’s independent from social media giants like facebook.

Let’s get to the subject of the thread: “Introduce yourself”. My name is Michiel and I’m an employee at the Vocas group of companies from the Netherlands. Most of you will probably know our Vocas Systems products as they have been reviewed and used many times by the Newsshooter team along the years. But something most of you probably don’t know is that we (Vocas Sales & Servcies) are the main Dutch reseller and service centre of brands like: ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Blackmagic Design, Zeiss, Angenieux etc.

I think there’s a lot of growth potential for the forum and would like to help wherever I can with answering questions and sharing knowledge. As we’ve got a complete showroom with a lot of camera’s, lenses and other filmmaking tools tag me wherever you can if you need me to test something for you or ask if we came across some technical problem in our service centre.

If you would like to know more about the Vocas group of companies let me know, I would love to hear your questions.

Stay healthy!

Michiel from Vocas

p.s. this video shows you our optical service department and a bit of our showroom

Thank you Newsshooter for your excellent work, which has been enormously useful for me over the last several years, and for setting up this forum. I am a long-time, and formerly NYC-based, photojournalist and relatively novice documentary DoP currently based in Haifa. Hello to all -

I'm Erik, a Chicago-based DP, cam op, and former gaffer. I mostly do commercial work and narrative-style TV features for many major networks & streaming platforms. I'm usually on the road much more than my wife would prefer!

I have gotten a lot of good ideas and gear recommendations from newsshooter over the years and am looking forward to interacting and learning more from like-minded pros!

Long time reader of newsshooter.com which in my eyes is one of the if not the best site for information for content creators.

Greetings all... I'm Kevin McRoberts, your basic pudgy bearded camera guy.  I'm based just far enough outside of DC to stay sane, but still get regular DC work in the documentary, corporate, and commercial realms.  My favorite pastries are eclairs and all other pastries.  Due to frequently shooting training media in hospitals, surgical suites, and bio research laboratories up to the BSL4 level, I don't get what all the fuss is about (ask me for any video biosafety tips).  I once temporarily repaired a CJ5 driveshaft with a long strip of waxed cardboard and a quarter.  I do not suffer from Asperger's (I have it, but don't suffer).  Skunks frighten me moreso than bears.  My stint in small market local broadcast news lasted exactly 7 weeks (9/2010-10/2010).  My wife is way too hot for me.  The last three songs on my Pandora shuffle playlist were: Angel From Montgomery - John Prine; Knuckle Down - Man Man; The Road Goes On Forever - Robert Earl Keen.  Matthew Allard is my all-time favorite light reviewer.  My pop culture frame of reference ends abruptly around 1997.  All of the sound guys I hire are named Matt (coincidental... I think).  My Lowel kit still makes me happy.  I am the spitting image of a middle-aged Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.  I don't think a football is a very good Christmas present.

Pleased to be sharing pixels and wisdom and occasional idiocy with you all

Hello everyone!

I have been a film/video production specialist since 1985, starting with US AIR FORCE (until 1997), then moving into broadcast cable, corporate, and educational media. Now working as Studio Operations Manager and Director/DP/TD for THE GREAT COURSES

Currently, the bulk of my work involves Directing/TDing live-to-tape studio productions of 12/24/36 episode x 30-minute educational "series" for direct-to-consumer viewing via DVD and OTT via The Great Courses Plus, Amazon, Roku, as well as library and commercial cable services.

I work out of Chantilly, Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C., but live in Maryland, between Baltimore and Annapolis, or as we locals like to say, "I live and work in the DMV."

Beyond that, I am a voracious consumer of television/movies and I enjoy reading, art collecting, and being a foodie.
