Anyone that owns a BMPCC4K, and this might be applicable to the BMPCC6K, and is looking for a simple remote recording start/stop app that's free, give this a go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_cimusfilms.Blackmagic_Camera_Control&hl=en.

I have it installed on my Android phone and it works a treat. I first connected both of my BMPCC4Ks to the phone, then installed the app and it immediately recognised both cameras. It will only work with one camera at a time, but it's simple and effective. All the other apps I checked out try to replicate the BMPCC4K LCD and therefore it becomes a bugger's muddle of control interfaces. One app offers focus and record start/stop through a Tilta Nucleus Nano, but it disables the focus motor and defaults to the in-camera focus controls, with no guarantee what lenses will work.

One day someone will come up with a simple Bluetooth dongle with a 1/4" mount or hot shoe foot that does nothing but start/stop recording. Until then, this app is the simplest and most effective that I've come across.

Nice,

CDA-Tek's 3C Remote Control app is the one you're referring to which has the ability to control the Nucleus-Nano

https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/11/04/3c-remote-control-app-for-bmpcc-4k-v1-4/

For URSA Mini users, @Erik Naso has previously covered Blackmagic's own app - https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/07/07/control-ursa-mini-pro-bmd-bluetooth-control-iphone-plus-new-firmware-v-5-1-1/

CDA-Tek has also made what you're looking for regarding a small bluetooth dongle.

See the Pocket Bluetooth Controller - https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/06/22/cda-tek-pbc-pocket-bluetooth-controller-for-bmpcc-4k-ursa-mini-pro/

It was launched on Indiegogo https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pbc-bmpcc4k-6k-camera-controller-part-ii#/

Yes, that's the one. I wasn't aware of the dongle, but I'd still prefer something ultra-simple like those devices used to start/stop recording on mobile phones on a selfie-stick. When I'm using my cameras, I don't change settings very often and the most that I'll change is the fps  from 24 to 75 (via the HFR button). If I have to change say ISO, it's easy enough to do that on the screen or via the programmed button and scroll wheel. Exposure variations are usually taken care of via the variable ND.

I can understand that some people may want greater control if the camera is mounted in places where it may be difficult to access, but I'm sure many would also just like one stand-out button, on a small device, that can be attached anywhere on a rig, say a handle. If Blackmagic had provided a 3.5mm port for a remote, we'd already have these by the baker's dozen.

Slightly OT, do you know if they plan to implement on the BMMCC and BMMSC4K the same HDMI command set which is now available on the BMPCC4K and BMPCC6K to be used with the Atem Mini Pro?

From what I've read, Blackmagic has said that this feature will only be available with the ATEM Mini Pro. But who really knows, given that it's now technically feasible to do this, such a control could come out as a stand alone unit.
