T M Camera Solutions MasterBuilt Vista-M Lenses

At Cinegear 2019, T M Camera Solutions was showing MasterBuilt Vista-M Lenses that are designed to cover large format, full frame and the ARRI Alexa 65.

The lenses have a very clear center sharpness with a fall off that that is very reminiscent of a Canon K-35. Like a lot of the new lenses on the market, these lenses have a vintage look, but with the added benefit of modern optics, and solid, modern mechanics.

Tim from T M Camera Solutions told us that he came up with a prescription for an optical formula that combines a vintage look, with good center sharpness and a softness to the edges of frame.

The lenses will be available in the following focal lengths:

  • 18mm T1.4
  • 25mm T1.4
  • 35mm T1.4
  • 50mm T1.4
  • 85mm T1.4
  • 105mm T1.4
  • 135mm T1.4

Most of the focal lengths will cover the sensor on the ARRI Alexa 65.

The front element has been polished in a proprietary way so that the lens flares in a similar way to a Canon K-35.

The 25, 35, 50 and 85mm lenses are all the same weight, while the 18,105, and 135mm will all be a little heavier.

The machined polish look was really nice and I’m glad that T M Camera Solutions is keeping it for their production versions.

The lenses will be available in Pl, LPL, and Panavision mounts.

I had a quick play with the lenses and they are beautifuly made with superb mechanics. We put some of the lenses on a Nikon Z6 with a PL adapter and took a couple of quick shots.

I was very impressed by the images the lenses can produce. They still maintain good constast and center sharpness while having a nice softness.
