Scratch resistant – Lee filters show ProGlass Cine range of neutral-density filters at BSC Expo

At the BSC Expo on London last weekend Lee filters were showing their new ProGlass Cine range of IR ND filters. These are said by Lee to scratch resistant and they were happy to demonstrate that for us at the show. Traditional IR ND filters have tended to show obvious colour shifts and variations depending on the strength used, the new Lee offerings claim to be far more colour accurate and consistent.

They are surface coated rather than using dye sandwiched between the filter glass – something that several other makers like NiSi and TrueND have also done. The ProGlass Cine filters are 4mm-thick, optically flat, scratch-resistant glass, and edged with a metal rim.

The filters are available in strengths from 1 to 7 stops (0.3 to 2.1 ND).
