At the Interbee show in Japan, Japanese camera accessory manufacturer NEP were showing a vast array of camera power solutions. They make a power or battery plate solution for practically every camera on the market.

One of their more interesting solutions was their brand new PV-DCmulti-6 multi voltage conversion plate. The plate attaches to any standard v-mount and includes massive four USB 5V (total 2A × 2) outputs, four Hirose 8.4V 2A × 3, two 4 pin XLR outputs plus a d-tap output.

Power to the PV-DCmulti-6 can be from any standard v-mount battery, or via a 4 pin XLR DC 12-18V input. The multi voltage conversion plate weighs in at 350g and is available for 49,800JPY ($449US).

Also on display were a series of DV battery to V-Mount plates. They allow you to use two smaller batteries to power a camera that usually accepts a V-lock battery. Different plates are available that let you use batteries such as the Sony F, BP-U, M series, Panasonic VBD, VGB, Canon LP-E6, BP970G, or JVC SSL batteries.

This is not a new concept, others makers like Hawkwoods have had them for some time, but it is still a handy piece of kit to have in your bag in case you run out of v-lock batteries, or you need to make your camera lighter for use on drones or gimbals.
