The 20mm F2.0 FE MF is the first lens in the new FiRIN mirroless lens series and combines a fast aperture with a wide angle of view and full manual focus capability. The aperture ring can be “clicked” for stills photography and “de-clicked” for smoother operation when shooting video. Electronic contacts allow for communication with the camera. This communication allows the lens to transmit distance and aperture information that allows the camera to utilize the 5-axis Image Stabilization, Manual Focus Assist, and other features that require electronic lens communication.

The minimum focus distance is just 28cm (11″) and the lens features a 62mm front filter thread. The Firin weighs in at 490g (1.08lb).

According to Tokina the lens is just the first in a new series of lenses that will bear the Firin name. The new 20mm F2 looks to be a great lens for both still photohraphy and video shooters. The electronic communication coupled with a full manual iris and the ability to de-click the aperture when necessary will surely make this lens very popular with Sony E mount users.
