Anton/Bauer add discharge function to Performance Quad charger

antonbauer

File under ‘more useful than it sounds’ – Anton/Bauer are making a firmware update available for their Performance Quad battery charger that allows you to discharge the attached batteries to a predetermined level.

Specifically, it will allow you to reduce the amount of charge in your batteries to the 30% level that the IATA now require for you to be able to fly with lithium ion batteries.

A/B CINE-series batteries have an LCD display that will tell you exactly what percentage of charge is left.

The update will be baked in to new chargers and is available now as an update to existing models from the Vitec group’s FTP transfer site. Click here and open the folder marked ‘Anton Bauer Performance Quad Update.’

The relevant part of the IATA guidance is available here – and if that all sounds like rather a hassle for your next flight, you could check out some nickel metal hydride batteries that don’t fall under these restrictions.
