Mythbusters DP Scott Sorensen shoots with the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4.6K on his custom chase car rig

Tested have just posted a video interview with MythBusters’ Director of Photography Scott Sorensen in which he demonstrates his motion-controlled chase car rig. It is a custom design that fits a DJI Ronin brushless gimbal to the rear of an old police car. If this were not fascinating enough, the DP then chooses to demonstrate it with the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini 4.6K bolted to it. It’s pretty hard to tell anything about the camera’s quality from the video, but it is good to see that the camera can be easily used for these kind of setups. It seems that the Ronin has no problem stabilising an URSA Mini 4.6K with EF lens and IDX battery.

Also in the video is impressive slow motion footage from the series that shows a truck ramming its way through several cars and vans in slow motion. This was shot using the car rig with a Sony FS700 and Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q recorder running at 200 fps.

The Tested video was shot and edited by Joey Fameli.
