BVE 2016: New IDX Duo Compact V-lock batteries from IDX pack more power, dual d-tap and USB into smaller sizes

We’ve covered the prototypes before here on Newsshooter but IDX have used BVE in London to introduce the production versions of their Duo Compact batteries.

Available in 93Wh and 185Wh versions, the batteries feature dual D-Tap connectors and a USB port for charging phones or other accessories. One of the D-Taps also doubles as a connector for a lightweight charger that the company will be showing at NAB later this year. The new batteries also have a special honeycomb-like safety structure inside that isolates each power cell from its neighbours.

The Duo-C95 weighs 1.3lbs and is designed to be used where it’s important to keep weight down as much as possible: on gimbals, smaller cameras that don’t need so much of a counterweight over the shoulder and on the back of field monitors.

The Duo-C190 is heavier at 2.3lbs but can supply up to 11A/120W to connected equipment, making it suitable for bigger cameras and high-draw LED lights.

Both batteries will be available in April. The Duo-C95 will be priced at £200+VAT and the Duo-C190 £355+VAT.
