IBC 2015: Blackmagic reinvent the broadcast ENG camera with Ursa Mini B-mount lens adapter

By associate editor Elliot Smith:

As a result of some snags in the manufacturing process, Blackmagic Design have delayed the release of their Ursa Mini camera until later this month. One good thing to come out of the added wait, however, is a B4 lens mount conversion that will allow you to use B4 lenses in a traditional ENG on-the-shoulder configuration but with up-to-date codecs and resolution.

Blackmagic have also added a 12G-SDI port to the camera, opening up more possibilities for using the Ursa in a studio environment.

The Ursa Mini starts at €2,829 for the 4K EF version, rising to €5,189 for the 4.6K PL mount version. It should, according to Blackmagic, be shipping ‘in September.’
