Newsshooter at SMPTE 2015 roundup: Part 1

The SMPTE’s Australian branch organises an expo every year, and Newsshooter contributor Clinton Harn was on hand to take a look at some of the latest industry developments Down Under. Tune in again tomorrow for part two of Clinton’s whistle-stop tour.

Protog Melbourne’s Brian McKinnon demonstrates the entry level three-light kit from Ledgo. The 560-LED units are modular, can clip together to create a larger light source and are able to be powered from NP-F style batteries.

Richard Farr introduces the Prompt-it Maxi, a low cost teleprompter that uses your existing tablet and software to create an easy to use, professional portable prompter.

Rastorder offer carts suitable for audio and video use on location, ranging from a simple ‘tripod for the sound guy’ to a rack-mount compatible trolley with room for an analogue mixer. Cup holder optional.

Atomos discuss the latest developments for their Shogun 4K recorder, including integration with high-end UAVs made by specialist drone company XM2. Jeromy Young, CEO of the company, also trails a ‘massive announcement’ coming from the company in the next four to five weeks.

Rotolight’s Barry Grub demonstrates the Rotolight Neo, a bicolour on-camera light with integrated special effects. The light is available with a softbox and filter holders and can be powered by six AA batteries. The company also has a new distribution deal with CR Kennedy in Australia.
