This week ARRI China and ZEISS together opened their new ZEISS authorised lens service center in Beijing.

After a year of preparation the center will soon be able to test, repair and calibrate all CP.2, CZ.2, Ultra Prime, Master Prime and Alura Zoom lenses to Zeiss standards without sending them out of the country. For China-based pro shooters this will be a big improvement.

The service center is kitted out with esoteric-sounding equipment such as the MTF-Tester K8, On-axis MTF-Tester K9, T-Stop Tester and Distortion Tester. These are the same lens measuring technologies as at the ZEISS headquarters in Germany and it is great to see western companies making such big investments supporting their top end products in China.

ZEISS is also providing the option for annual service subscription packages. These include evaluation, projection, calibration and full cleaning service for fixed fees.
