NAB 2015: F-Stop Shinn backpack is big enough to carry an Arri Alexa

By technical editor Matt Allard:

At NAB 2015 F-Stop bags were showcasing the largest bag they have ever made. Called the Shinn, the backpack is designed for the most rugged of conditions and features special all-weather fabrics, a suspension system and an internal frame. The Shinn has been purposely made as a cinema backpack to hold all your camera and filming accessories. All compartments can be accessed from the rear of the bag and the main compartment allows you to fit a camera that is up to 9″ (22.86cm) in height. That means that even larger cameras like the Blackmagic URSA or even an Arri Alexa with a Zeiss 70-200mm CZ will fit inside the bag.

The Shinn bag seems well constructed and the inside of the bag can be configured for an individuals particular needs. Unlike many other camera backpacks, the Shinn has a proper harness system that should make carrying heavy loads far more comfortable.

The 420D Nylon has a water repellent coating on the surface and an inside laminated TPU layer giving the actual material better waterproofing – reducing the need to use a rain cover. The laminated film layer provides an impenetrable layer that resists water, sand and dirt while increasing the durability of the bag.

If you are a solo operator who is going off the beaten track and need to carry all your equipment in one once then the Shinn could be the bag you are looking for. The Shinn bag will be available in May for $799 US and comes in three different colours.
