NAB 2014 video: Switronix $35 D-tap power solution for GoPro

Newsshooter at NAB 2014: Switronix external power solution for GoPro from Dan Chung on Vimeo.

On the last day of the NAB show I was wondering the hall and stumbled upon a great little piece of kit from battery specialist Switronix. They make a power supply cable that allows GoPro 3 and 3+ cameras to be run from any broadcast battery with a D-tap power socket. The cable has an in line voltage regulator which means a broadcast battery can be used to power a GoPro for days.

The best thing about this adapter is the price – a bargain at $35 US. Given the relatively short run time of regular GoPro batteries I can see this adapter being extremely popular with news shooters.

They also make a USB power version that can run off a wall charger for $25 US and a cigarette lighter version for car use. For more info check out the Switronix website.

This video in on our last batch of NAB videos that is currently being edited. Sorry for the delay but with the team dispersing to the four corners of the globe things have gotten a little complicated.
