NAB 2014 live show replay: Steadicam M1, Lynn motor unit and Exovest

By site editor Dan Chung:

NAB 2014: NewsShooter – Tiffen Steadicam with Garret Brown from Teradek on Vimeo.

Steadicam inventor Garret Brown brought the very latest Steadicam M1 onto out live show at NAB. It is a top of the range modular system where you can add just about any option you want.

Demonstrated by Steadicam operator and designer Chris Fawcett is the latest version of his Exovest and also a new single-axis motor unit called the Lynn. The Lynn is designed to work on top of a Steadicam arm and gives operators extra stabilisation plus the ability to convert quickly to low angle shooting. Watch to video to see how it works.

Also seen briefly at the start of the video is the near final version of the affordable Steadicam Solo combination stabilizer and monopod, which ships soon.

I tried making my own steadicam from the videos on YouTube. It was really more of a pain than it was worth. I ended up getting this one for under 100 bucks. So far so good. Using it with my T3i and Go Pro.steadicam
