NAB 2014: Sony a7S lowlight test by DP Den Lennie and exclusive pics of Sony’s servo zoom prototype

By Mat Gallagher:

After hearing about the 409,600ISO abilities of the new Sony a7S we were keen to see just how clean this really looks. So here is the first low light test taken with the camera by Den Lennie. The results look impressive, though the ultimate test will be how it compares to the likes of the 5D MkIII, which we will see in the next day or so. For more tests see Den Lennie’s site www.fstopacademy.com

Also on the horizon for potential a7S users is a servo zoom lens. These are pictures of the prototype, currently on display at NAB and it looks stunning. Details are still vague but we believe it is roughly 28-135mm f/4. Based on this sample though it suggests the maximum is 123mm, and so far it doesn’t seem to have the Zeiss branding we might have expected of a lens in this class.
