Broadcast Asia 2013: Miller Air tripod for DSLR and lightweight systems

One of the most interesting new products at Broadcast Asia was the prototype Miller Air tripod. It looks very similar to previous Miller Solo tripods but is designed specifically for DSLRs and smaller video camera setups. Most importantly the price is set to be around $1000 US which will make it one of the more affordable true fluid head options and a competitor to the popular Sachtler Ace tripod system.

I’ve long been a fan of Miller tripods and in my brief time playing with the Air tripod at the show it seemed to operate just as smoothly as the more expensive models. I’d certainly recommend DSLR shooters to look at one when they become available.

Miller also told us that the new rapid lock leg tripods which they showed at NAB are now available to buy in Asia and Australia. Other regions will have to wait a while longer.
