NAB 2013: Miller Solo tripods with Rapid Lock legs

Reported by Chuck Fadely:

NAB 2013: Miller Solo Rapid Lock tripods from Dan Chung on Vimeo.

Rick Macomber talks to Miller Tripods about their new Rapid Lock legs, which require only a quarter-turn to lock and unlock. Plus we get to see the inside of a fluid head. Complicated buggers, aren’t they? And, if you’re in the heavy iron category, they’ve got a new Skyline 70 fluid head with a 150mm ball that will hold 82 pounds (37Kg) of camera.

I’ve got a set of Miller Solo legs and the new locking system looks great but I’m not going to upgrade just for this feature.

I take special care locking now after this tripod collapsed with my brand new C300 attached. Fortunately it landed on the Rycote Softie and no damage occured apart from needing a new viewfinder back end.

But really what I wanted to do was to thank all of you for the highly informative films you have posted from NAB13. That’s a heck of a lot of work and really appreciated.
