Rode microphones giving away a free copy of Pluraleyes with Videomic Pro

By site editor Dan Chung:

The Rode Videomic Pro

RØDE have today announced a deal where purchasers of a VideoMic Pro or Stereo VideoMic Pro will receive a free copy of Red Giant’s excellent PluralEyes 3 audio synchronisation software. All you have to do is purchase the mic from an authorised dealer and register it between now and the end of 2012. You will also receive a free ten year extended warranty from RØDE.

While large sensor camcorders with built-in XLR sockets are becoming increasingly popular there are still many DSLR news shooters out there using less sophisticated audio setups who will benefit. The combination of a good quality top mic and audio syncing software allows users to either shoot simple multi-camera setups or work with a dedicated external audio recorder in a dual system sound setup.

Dual system sound is still one of the best ways to improve your audio and I am personally a big fan of using PluralEyes to do this. Check out the video below to see how this works:

Even though many other editing packages now attempt similar audio synchronisation I have always found Pluraleyes 2 to be the best and the simplest – especially when it comes to more complex multi camera workflows. The new PluralEyes 3 is claimed to be up to 20 times faster than PluralEyes 2.

Even if you are not the biggest fan of RØDE mics then this deal is still good. The retail price of PluralEyes 3 is $199 so if you were looking to buy it anyway then this is a bit of a no brainer.

Here is the press release from Rode:

RØDE ANNOUNCES PLURALEYES
BUNDLE OFFER

Friday November 2, 2012 – ‘Dual-System’ audio for filmmaking has never been easier this November and December, thanks to RØDE Microphones and Red Giant Software.

Every purchase of a RØDE VideoMic Pro or Stereo VideoMic Pro microphone from an authorised RØDE dealer worldwide during November and December 2012 qualifies for a free copy of Red Giant Software’s award-winning PluralEyes audio and video synchronizing software. Valued at US$199, the software will be supplied free to the customer via direct download upon online registration of their microphone’s free ten year extended warranty.

The RØDE VideoMic Pro and Stereo VideoMic Pro have become the DSLR microphones of choice due to their high-quality audio, ease of use and compact form factor, and are a ‘must-have’ for getting the best results both in single and dual/multi-system audio setups. This practice involves recording ‘scratch’ audio direct to camera as well as capturing close-miked or boomed audio to a separate recording device.

By synchronising audio and multi-camera video automatically, PluralEyes has revolutionised this post-production workflow for filmmakers and video editors. Prior to PluralEyes, filmmakers would have to use a slate, clap or similar sound to create a spike in the audio signal that they could use to painstakingly align multiple tracks by eye.

Accelerated to up to 20 times the speed of previous versions, PluralEyes 3 now makes it easier than ever to integrate multiple audio and video into your production.
